Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Belgian striker, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks, will join Spurs until the end of the campaign and is expected to make his debut against Watford on Sunday.

Lukaku, who has scored 12 goals in 28 appearances for the Blues this season, was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this month, but ultimately stayed at Chelsea.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was keen to bring in a new forward to strengthen his squad ahead of the upcoming Champions League group stage matches.

"Romelu is a top-class player," Pochettino said. "He's one of the best strikers in the world and we're delighted to sign him on loan."

Lukaku has previously played for Inter Milan and Everton before joining Chelsea in 2014. He has made over 500 appearances for the Blues and has scored more than 100 goals during his time at the club.
